If you’re looking for a great afternoon out with the family; you should definitely spend some time at the Albright-Knox museum in Buffalo. The Albright-Knox Museum is one of the oldest art institutes in the country. The building’s neo-classical design features beautiful greek columns and was designed by Edward B. Green with updates designed by Gordon Bunshaft.
The Campus sits on the edge of Deleware Park where you can visit and even have a picnic lunch or dinner after your tour of the museum.
The museum has been collecting works of art for 156 years and includes works by such famous artists as Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Camille Pissarro, Jackson Pollock, Georgia O’Keeffe, Andy Warhol, Francis Bacon, and many more.
Fun Fact: This museum still works directly with artists which allows it to showcase wonderful collections of contemporary and modern art.
The museum also offers great classes and activities that are available to both children and adults. If you’re going to be staying in the Buffalo area for a while then you can sign up for classes. If you’re just visiting then you can drop in for art activities. These activities take place on the first Friday of every month and on the second Sunday of every month. The activities available are always different and are inspired by the themes or artwork that are currently on display at that time.
Enjoy a day of art and a picnic in the park. To find out more about schedules and times, please visit the museum’s website at www.albrightknox.org
